Joe Biden Is Officially The US Democratic Presidential Nominee.
Former US Vice President has clinched enough delegates to officially become the Democratic Party Presidential nominee.
Biden was considered to be the nominee all but officially, after his main rival, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders withdrew from the race in April.
Biden has promised to chose a woman as his running mate, with several black candidates likely in the running. However, speculation around Hillary Clinton being Biden's running mate had surfaced should he win the nomination, and will likely surface again.

The Daily Quick-Look for 09 June 2020
The Deciport Daily Quick-Look is your at-a-glance look at several key events and situations around the world over the last 24 hours and why they matter. Each headline contains the link to its source report.
*BLUF = Bottom Line Up Front.
1. UNITED STATES – Political: Biden Wins Enough Delegates To Clinch US Democratic Nomination
BLUF: Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden secured enough delegates to formally clinch the Democratic presidential nomination on Friday, setting the stage for a challenge to President Donald Trump in the November election. (Reuters. See Link In Heading) Why It Matters: Biden is seeking to meet with the family of George Floyd, killed by Minneapolis Police recently, and will almost certainly leverage the incident, that occurred in a state and city represented by his own political party. It is anticipated however, that Biden will seek to distance himself from calls to disband/defund police in the US, which is a political point of contention for the Black Lives Matter movement and protesters associated with the Floyd death.
2. VENEZUELA – Security/Political: Aid Flight Arrives From Iran To Venezuela Despite Continued US Pressure
BLUF: An Iranian flight carrying coronavirus aid reportedly landed in Venezuela today. It is the latest sign of cooperation between the two countries in the face of US opposition. (Al-Monitor. See Link In Heading) Why It Matters: US President Trump had earlier this year given the US Navy authority to fire upon Iranian naval vessels that interfered with or threatened them. Should the US seek to intercept or blockade further shipments of aid or oil, it is almost certain that the situation would result in a tense stand-off or possibly draw both countries into a conflict should either side fire on the other.
3. SWITZERLAND – Political/Security: Rights Groups Urge UN To Investigate US 'Police Violence'
BLUF: Relatives of victims and activist groups called on Monday for the top United Nations human rights body to launch an investigation into “police violence and repression of protests” in the United States. (Reuters. See Link In Heading) Why It Matters: United Nations (UN) involvement in this issue would be unlikely to gain any traction from the current US Administration, who is increasingly distancing itself from the UN, most recently cutting ties with the World Health Organisation.
4. RUSSIA – Security/Political: US, Russia To Begin Nuclear Arms Talks This Month
BLUF: U.S. and Russian officials will meet later this month for nuclear arms-control negotiations, a top Trump administration arms control official said Monday. (The Hill. See Link In Heading) Why It Matters: The current Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) agreement, negotiated by the Obama Administration, is set to expire 05 Feb 2020.
5. CHINA – Political: Trump Plans To Sign Bill Pressuring China Over Uighur Muslim Crackdown: Source
BLUF: U.S. President Donald Trump plans to sign legislation calling for sanctions on Chinese officials responsible for oppressing Uighur Muslims, a source familiar with the matter said on Monday without offering a time frame for the signing. (Reuters. See Links In Heading) Why It Matters: The Chinese Communist Party has been reported to have been oppressing Uighurs and other Muslim minorities in China’s Xinjiang province, where the United Nations estimates more than a million Muslims have been detained in camps.
